BenchRebel started with a personal restoration project: an early 1900s Ritter air compressor rusting in someone's boneyard. Most people look at an old machine and see scrap metal. I see legacy engineering that deserves restoration and new purpose.
To get it running, I wanted reusable seals and gaskets and custom add-ons, but I hit an immediate roadblock — direct-fit parts didn't exist, and industrial suppliers demanded massive minimum order quantities (MOQs).
So I manufactured my own.

That project exposed a gaping hole in hardware manufacturing: traditional injection molding is impractical for small production runs, and standard FDM 3D printing couldn't deliver the isotropic strength and material performance I wanted for other projects on my workbench.
When word of the custom silicone project got out, a fellow maker asked if I could solve a poor-performance issue with his Bambu Lab 3D printer nozzle wiper. One custom solution led to another, and BenchRebel evolved from restoring legacy machinery in my garage to eliminating hardware downtime and print failures across modern 3D printers.
